As detailed in a couple of message I sent to the support email, I believe there's a certificate signing issue with the cFosSpeed v10.50 driver that makes the installer crash on Windows Server 2012 R2.

I was able to replicate the exact behaviour in a fresh 2012 R2 installation:

1) Install 2012 R2 in VM
2) FULLY patch via Windows Update (this step doesn't seem to matter)
3) Try to install cfosspeed-v1050.exe
4) Installer crashes half-way through

I don't know if the C:\Program Files\cFosSpeed\cfosspeed6.sys file is becoming corrupt or it isn't signed properly, but after the failed installation, its file size doesn't seem to match the one in C:\Program Files\cFosSpeed\ms-signed\ - as it does on a Windows 10 system. And checking its Digital Signature shows a bad GlobalSign certificate in the certificate chain.

This isn't specific to my system. You can test this yourself in a VM - the v10.50 installer fails every time. Edit: v10.26 works perfectly fine.

It looks like there is a Problem to load the driver during the installion.

Please check all steps listed here:

I'm not getting a blue screen, it's just the cFosSpeed installer for v10.50 that's crashing, with that error message.

Crash while upgrading/installing v10.50 on 2012 R2 Empty Crash while upgrading/installing v10.50 on 2012 R2

Hi,

Been running v10.26 of cFosSpeed on Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials for a while and decided to upgrade to v10.50.

However, it crashes during the installation with the following error:

Problem signature:
 Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
 Application Name: setup.exe_cFosSpeed Installer
 Application Version: 10.50.2338.0
 Application Timestamp: 5c936e16
 Fault Module Name: StackHash_7ecf
 Fault Module Version: 6.3.9600.18969
 Fault Module Timestamp: 5aa29ff0
 Exception Code: c0000374
 Exception Offset: PCH_3D_FROM_ntdll+0x0000000000090D0A
 OS Version: 6.3.9600.2.0.0.272.7
 Locale ID: 2057
 Additional Information 1: 7ecf
 Additional Information 2: 7ecf3fb12dc1641d89acfba6f5201c8a
 Additional Information 3: ede4
 Additional Information 4: ede48c2f10d8755da5da44af3a5b9c28

This occurs shortly after the installer removes the old version. I've tried uninstalling and moving the relevant program directories out of the way after a clean reboot. A fresh install of v10.50 always seems to crash at the same point. While v10.26 installs perfectly fine.

This is on a modest spec HP MicroServer N40L, fully patched with Windows Updates.

Can any dev shed some light? Many thanks.
