Doesn't work for Fibre and Mobile Networks
Hi,
I was recently contacted by a colleague who had issues getting more than half speed having recently switched to a 1Gb fibre internet provider. In diagnosing the issue he disabled Traffic Shaping and the associated service to discover that his cFosSpeed install was the root cause. He was then able to get a ping of 4 with 960Mbps download and 100Mbps upload speeds according to Ookla. Out of curiosity I also disabled traffic shaping and the associated service to find that my ping improved by 5 down to 45 and download improved to around 23Mbps from 20Mbps and upload went up to around 22Mbps from 19Mbps. I reactivated cFosSpeed and tried recalibrating the line and found it made no difference with the ping, download and upload speeds returning to their original levels. I then uninstalled cFosSpeed and the ping reduced and speeds increased once again. I'm using a mobile data network for my internet access and so my speeds are much lower than my colleague's internet access. In the past I used the free cFosSpeed available with my AMD processor, however paid for a full license in May 2020. The above experiences suggests that my purchasing a full license was a total waste of money, as cFosSpeed does not appear to work for the use cases described above. Am I missing something?
Kind Regards,
Stuart Davies
